Drawing Muhammad for fun and profit

“Gunmen shot dead in Texas after opening fire outside Prophet Muhammad cartoon show”

The event was called the “Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest” probably because “haha fuck you Muslims and everything you stand for and care about …’Murica!!” is tricky to fit on a banner.

Here we have opposing ideologues playing a rousing game of “match and powderkeg”. This has nothing to do with “freedom of speech” — it’s aggressive baiting and those 2 poor brainwashed schmucks swallowed the bait down to their ammo belts. And so they are dead (martyrs?) and an unarmed security guard barely escaped becoming a sacrificial lamb on the alter of Christian evangelism.

Now the Christians in the “American Freedom Defense Initiative” (a known anti-Muslim hate group based in NYC) can trumpet this as “proof” and motivation for their future activities against Islam in any form and all Muslims everywhere. They were going to win either way: If there was violence, they get a PR win for their crusade. If there was no violence, they still got to spend the whole day and aftermath sneeringly poking the general Muslim community with their aggressively disrespectful “art” (a desecration of the term).  Read the unsubtle subtext in Geller’s quotes, if you can stomach her smugness.

Here’s the prizewinner, rather breathtaking in its hypocrisy:

“This incident shows how much needed our event really was. The freedom of speech is under violent assault here in our nation. The question now before is — will we stand and defend it, or bow to violence, thuggery and savagery?”

Seriously. Think about who is saying this, who she speaks for, and who she’s speaking to and about.

And ISIS, those murderous gangsters, are happy to praise anyone who they can include in their regime, because they are such a small fraction of the Muslim community and want to claim anything that gives them more power and emotional/mental influence.

This is an absolute mess. No heroes here, only villains and victims. Ugh.
