Overmedicated meat

I can’t tell you that you shouldn’t eat meat. But if you do, I urge you to eat better quality meat from responsibly raised, properly fed animals (organic, for example). Yes, it’s more expensive and harder to find. But meat shouldn’t be cheap. If you need to be frugal, I respect that. But industrial farmed, subsidized, overmedicated meat isn’t worth the price — in any sense. Animal suffering and death aside.. think about the human lives that these livestock policies destroy: farmworkers, consumers, children. Please consider spending more, less often, for better food and a healthier food chain.

Meat industry consumes most antibiotics in U.S.

About amywinns

Semi-snarky, semi-sincere, occasionally ranting, always paying attention. Feminist who can work a skirt and crack a joke. Grammar nerd who is also fun at parties. Mid-career writer/editor with 15 years’ experience in newspapers & magazines who now helps developers at a major media corporation communicate with the suits who write the checks. Pro-women, pro-family, pro-choice, pro-workingclass, pro-entrepreneur, pro-farmer. Like every other bourgeois Brooklynite, I choose local/organic/raw food — mostly vegetables — whenever possible/reasonable/affordable but I’m not a smug asshole about it. Hometown: Atlanta. Weird hobby: lindy hop. No pets, no kids, no thanks.
